WE SUPPORT BRILIANCE

Southern Region Press Club (SRPC ), a grouping of journalists in the Southern region has established a cooperative as one way of economically empowering it’s membership.

To ensure effective operationalisation of the cooperative, SPRC engaged United Civil servants, one of the country’s successful financial cooperatives to train the grouping on various aspects of the cooperative model.

Speaking during the training in Blantyre, SRPC President Ronald Amos applauded United Civil Servants SACCO for imparting financial knowledge and skills to the members on how best they can become economically empowered through the cooperative.

Amos added that the knowledge will help lay a strong foundation for the success of the cooperative thereby providing opportunities for growth and expansion.

“United Civil Servants SACCO has also supported our training financially, this is an indicator of a well meaning cooperative that seeks to assist new cooperatives like ours to thrive and together, change the country’s economic narrative.” Said Amos.

Amos: We want to follow your foot steps

In his remarks, guest of honour at the function who is also Chief Executive Officer for United Civil Servants SACCO Francis Waliwa applauded the journalists for thinking outside the newsroom and venturing into other means of attaining financial independence.

Waliwa added that the country needs more of such like- minded and goal oriented people who can mobilise their resources for their economic wellbeing and of the country at large.

” United Civil Servants SACCO is a cooperative that is geared to transform people’s lives through wealth creation. We therefore commit to support the SRPC cooperative in various ways including provision of free financial trainings to the members and networking the cooperative with international bodies for excellent results.” Said Waliwa.

Later Waliwa together with the journalists inspected a one hectare farmland that SRPC has secured in Whayo village, Traditional Authority Kapeni in Blantyre.
