Youths in Mzuzu city have been challenged to be innovative and venture into entrepreneurship for the country’s socio- economic development.
Founder for Kwithu kitchen Dr Anna Msowoya Keys made the call during a Youth trade concert organised by Mzuzu city council under the theme; Empowering youths for sustainable Trade innovations and economic growth towards Malawi 2063 vision.
Keys who was the guest of honour said trade concerts are crucial as they provide a platform for young entrepreneurs from various sectors including Agriculture, Fashion and designing, mining and hospitality industry to showcase their talent, products and pitch business ideas.
Realising the importance of the concert in as far as youth economic empowerment is concerned, United Civil Servants SACCO (UCSSACCO) sponsored the event. Briefing the guest of honour when she inspected the UCSSACCO pavillion at the concert, Sales and Marketing manager for UCSSACCO Chimwemwe Ndhlovu highlighted that UCSACCO offers a range of products including the Youth savings account and group savings account that enables young people and groups to save money and generate capital to establish or expand their businesses.
Keys was impressed to note that UCSSACCO considers financial growth for the youth and groups. She then encouraged the youth to utilize the opportunity and acquire financial knowledge through the free member education sessions that UCSSACCO provides to it’s members.
To spice up the event, UCSSACCO conducted a dancing competition and the winners got UCSSACCO branded T-Shirts.
