FROM SPENDERS TO SAVERS

The 2024 Public Relations Society of Malawi (PRSM) Lakeshore conference will go down in history for its remarkable financial literacy impact on communities in Mangochi district. This is because the lakeshore conference did not only bring together public relations practitioners to interact and reflect on their professional matters but also provided an interaction platform for people in Mangochi  to acquire knowledge on financial management.

As part of this year’s conference, PRSM organized a financial literacy open day at Mangochi stadium where various financial Institutions took turns in highlighting the importance of  savings, investments and consumer rights and responsibilities.

Speaking during the financial literacy open day at Mangochi stadium, PRSM President Benson Linje commended financial institutions that patronized the event saying for Malawi to be economically independent, there is need for collaboration and partnerships from all sectors.

One of the financial cooperatives that believes in financial freedom, United Civil Servants SACCO (UCSSACCO) sponsored the event and made a presentation about its products.

UCSSACCO Sales and marketing manager Chimwemwe Ndlhovu challenged the people to start saving money and watch their finances grow and transform their lives.

“As a financial cooperative we have an obligation to sensitize communities on the importance of saving money and financial management. We regard the sponsorship and partnership with PRSM as an opportunity to impart financial knowledge to the gathering and positively influence their financial behavior. We are delighted to see a lot of people flocking to our pavilion for membership registration. This signifies that the financial literacy message has landed on people who are ready to financially transform their lives.” Said Ndlhovu
